The R.L. Montgomery Ministry Newsletter

Vol. 1, No. 4

May 2005

A lot has happened since the last news letter .When we arrived on the Island Dora (wife of Martin) was ill and had been for a week or so. We prayed for her and she did not get any better, After about two days her children and husband came to us and ask if we would take her to the hospital. This was on Tuesday afternoon .We took her and her children and husband to Tampico and the doctors said that she had heart problems and needed immediate operation. She was scheduled for surgery on Thursday morning .I told them that Jesus would heal her if we prayed according to James 5.I got them to lay hands on her and we prayed. Thursday A.M. before surgery they checked her and found nothing wrong with her. She went back to the Island and the Good News of what the LORD had done spread fast. What rejoicing went on ! ! !

We bought 2X6 material for framing the windows and doors in the U.S. because most of the material in Mexico is oak. We also bought metal roofing for the roof on Dora’s kitchen. Martin is building her a new kitchen. The one she has is about fifty years old and is falling down not to mention the holes in the roof. There was no use to go in there when it rained. She cooks on open fire inside her kitchen. The smoke inside was great. Praise the Lord she is getting a new one. We also had chop saw, scaffolding, 10 ft ladders and other tools needed for the job with us. All this was loaded on a drag type trailer. When we crossed the International Bridge and went through customs with the above material, they did not charge us tax.

We went to Ozulama Vera Cruz Mexico and bought 2000 block for the building. They delivered 1000 on Saturday and the other 1000 on Thursday.

I went back to Eloy Sanchez who opened his home to us in Edinburg,Texas on Monday and picked up Tommy Fromenthal, Marvin Dinger, and Wayne Broussard from Louisiana. They came to the Island to be of assistance in the laying of the block. However they achieved many other tasks as well.

On arrival at the Island we meet with Pancho, Eusevio,Jaime and Marcos  and went over the plans for the walls. We had to put in the windows and doors in the plans as we changed the windows from 3X5 up and down to 5X3 slider due to safety. We then had to mark them on the slab so we would know where to place the block. The first block was laid on May 3. The sand had to be sifted by hand to make the cement. The corner block and the block next to the doors and windows had to be filled with cement to hold the weight of the roof, Also the blocks with reinforcement rod had to be filled. We hired another man Ricardo to help clean the mortar between the blocks. We were able to get two layers of block all the way around and five layers on one side. This is where the bottom of the windows will be.

There will be windows down both sides and two windows on the end and one main double door on the east side and two pedestrian doors on the west side.

We helped Martin in getting a trailer of large rocks to put in the foundation of Dora’s kitchen.

Jamie a young married man with two children express interested in being a pastor. He was born and raised on the island and is the grandson of the islands leader. Pray that the Lord will show us if this is the man He wants to be the pastor. He does not know anything about being a pastor but said he can learn.

We need funds pay the labor on the rest of the blocks to complete the walls. More cement and rebar is needed to put a “chain” around the top of the wall to support the roof. Pray for the people on island and that God will move on the hearts of many more people as the The Word of God goes forth and funds will come to complete the work. We will be traveling to Colorado and Louisiana and putting forth the vision and also showing photos of the work up to date.

We took the group back to Edinburg  so they could be home mothers day. They were a blessing and a big help. Thanks for the help…
